Suite101 interview with dance music sensation Stacey Jackson, where she talks about her new single "Is This Love" and collaborating with Snoop Dogg.

On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, Suite101 had the pleasure to chat with the elegant and stunning dance singing sensation Stacey Jackson. Particularly impressibe about Stacey is that she is a loving mother of four by day, and dance songstress by night.

Stacey Jackson Talks Balancing Motherhood with Music

When asked about how she balances motherhood with a music career, Stacey states, “I do it one day at a time.”

“This is my first time that I am doing a tour for this long. I try to balance both music and family. It’s a big leap out of the UK so I’m trying to see how it goes. My kids are so proud of me, and they are so supportive, and they know that this is what is making me happy. I try to do it all, and I am with them as much as I possibly can!”

Stacey Jackson Talks About “Is This Love”

Regarding her new single, “Is This Love,” she reveals, “it’s a White Snakes track and the original video is very seductive with big hair. I met my husband around the time the song was out in the late 80’s. To be able to re-do it in a dance version was a lot of challenging, but a lot of fun, especially the video. The single is coming out on November 14, 2011.”

Stacey Jackson Talks About Working with Snoop Dogg

“The lyrics of ‘Live It Up’ are about the one and only time when my father, who had passed away, visited me in a dream, and it was so vivid and very real. In my dream he told me that this is my time, and I have to ‘live it up,’ because otherwise it would be too late. I wrote the song with a verse that was meant for a rapper. My manager recommended Snoop Dogg, since he had worked with him before. Sure enough, five days later I was on a plane to Boston. He loved the song, so that tune holds a special place in my heart,” Stacey acknowledges.

Stacey continues, “Collaborating with Snoop Dogg was the experience of a lifetime. He was very creative, and we were chatting about the song, and he loved everything about it.”

“I am very fortunate that DJs are playing the song and people are listening to it. I am lucky that Snoop was attracted to what I was able to produce creatively,” she adds.

Stacey Jackson Discusses “I Am a Woman”

“‘I Am A Woman’ went to #5 on the UK Charts, and it was remixed by so many UK-based DJs. Obviously, we will have to get it remixed again in the United States market. It is expected to be released in the spring or summer of 2012,” she says.

“I am flattered when somebody takes my song and wants to remix it and make it their own. I think it’s brilliant! I am not going to love every remix that walks in the door, but I appreciate that because everybody has different tastes,” Stacey adds.

Stacey Jackson Shares Future Plans

“I cannot wait to go home and see my family. This has been a long ten days. I have been living on three hours sleep each night literally. It’s been one whirlwind after another. For the next few weeks, I will be very low-key and I will be spending time with them,” she reveals.

Stacey Jackson Honored as UK’s “Greatest Rocker Mum of All Time”

“I was so honored to be up there with Madonna. I was recognized as the mom first, who is trying to break into the pop-dance industry. I am very honored and flattered!” she exclaims.

Stacy Jackson Talks Dream Duets

When asked which artists she would like to duet with, Stacey responds,“David Coverdale from Whitesnake. I love British talent such as Tinie Tempah and I cannot stop singing Maroon 5’s new song ‘Moves Like Jagger.’ I love all genres of music. If I had a dinner party tomorrow, I would probably have Axl Rose, Diana Ross and Snoop Dogg, all sitting around the table.”

Stacey Jackson Gives Advice for Hopefuls in Dance Music

For hopefuls who wish to go into the dance music industry, Stacey recommends they “stay as open as possible, and listen and learn. The industry changes so much. We can work digitally and we have online capacity, but you have to not be too much of a diva with your work. Every single club is totally different. I have to thank all the DJs out there that have done such a fantastic job with my music. They are taking it and making it their own, and I have to appreciate that since I wouldn’t be here without the DJs. Let other people put their spin on it!”

Stacey Jackson Thanks her Fans

“If fans want to reach me, I am happy to sign autographs and contact them through social media, I am happy that I can do that for them.”

“A huge thank to my fans for all of their support. Continue dancing, keep on buying my music, and continue having fun!” Stacey exclaims.
