A former Country Music Association Horizon Award nominee, Julie Roberts discusses being a victim of the Nashville Floods this past May. Roberts also reveals her plans for the future, as well as offers advice for hopefuls wishing to find success in the country music industry.

Julie Roberts: Victim of the Nashville Floods

In May of this past year, Julie Roberts was a victim of the Nashville flooding, where her home was destroyed. In an effort to overcome this ordeal, Roberts remarks "we're still working on it. We're still rebuilding. I think that things can be replaced. The way we've overcome it and not let it bring us down is that Nashville, as a community, has pulled together and neighbors are helping neighbors. There were more than twenty people in my house taking the carpet out. The majority of them, I had not met. I think that's how communities rebuild their physical homes and are doing o.k. emotionally. People here are pulling for them. Without that, it would be pretty hard. It's been a very strong community. There's been a lot of benefit shows. Nashville Rising with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill helped raise money for the flood victims in Nashville."

As a result of the Nashville floods, Roberts has been trying to save some of her most prized possessions in her home which include pictures from her "gold record" party, as well as treasured photographs from the Country Music Association awards.

Throughout her career, fans and music critics alike have compared Julie Roberts' looks to those of country star Faith Hill. On being compared to Faith Hill, Roberts remarks "it feels great. I love Faith Hill and I've always loved Faith Hill. She's just a great class act and she and Tim McGraw did Nashville Rising and they made me a part of it, and I have a lot of respect for her. She's just so talented and I'll take that comparison any day of my life."

The hardest aspect of Julie Roberts' job is "not being able to be on the road," and "waiting to go back on the road because it's what I love."

Julie Roberts Reveals Future Plans

Julie Roberts' plans for the future include working on a new record, writing and recording, as well as playing some shows. "I am really just focused getting this new record done, which is expected to be released hopefully in the near future."

Julie Roberts loves "soulful music" and enjoys listening to artists such as "Ray LaMontagne and John Mayer." In future, Roberts would like to collaborate with country singer Jamey Johnson. "I would love to write and sing a song with him. He's really cool and he comes to my mind first," Roberts says.

Julie Roberts Offers Advice For Musical Hopefuls

Julie Roberts' musical career and life story are an inspiration to all aspiring teens and musicians who wish to pursue music professionally. For hopefuls who wish to pursue careers in country music, Roberts states that "there is no certain path to take. There are so many avenues to get into the music business such as going through television and 'American Idol' and things like that. It's important to not change who you are as an artist and don't quit. You'll find your path. It's just about being patient and waiting and never giving up on it. If you love playing and singing, you gotta do it every night, and do it like you don't need the money, do it because you love it!"
