An indie pop musician, Greenwell took some time from his busy schedule to talk to Suite101 about his career in music and future endeavors.

A Kentucky native, Josey Greenwell notes that he is inspired by Keith Urban and John Mayer due to their “writing style,” as well as Lady Gaga. “She can get the house down. I think she is awesome,” Greenwell admits.
Josey Greenwell Talks About Being an Internet Sensation
Thanks to the success derived from his social networks (MySpace, Facebook and YouTube), Josey Greenwell’s songs and music videos have garnered over 3.5 million views, an astonishing feature, thus making him a true Internet sensation.
“I try to keep my Internet presence pretty strong, and everybody has been so great spreading all my videos around. People seem to like them, and I enjoy doing them, so I will continue putting them up,” he says.
When asked about what his personal favorite cover song is that he recorded, he reveals, “Britney Spears’ ‘I Wanna Go.’ Also, I really like Lady Gaga’s ‘Judas’ since I stripped it down to an acoustic version.”
Josey Greenwell Talks About Being an Independent Musician
“It’s good because it really opened my eyes to what exactly I want to do myself,” he says. “The company that I’m working with down in Miami is great since I have total control of everything, and it is really representing me.”
“In the past recent months, I am most proud of everything that is getting ready to come up in 2012. It’ll be the most I’ve worked. It’s going to be really good,” he shares.
Josey Greenwell Discloses his Dream Collaborations
Greenwell lists Rihanna and Lady Gaga as the two females in music that he would love to collaborate with.
“I would like to do a show with Rihanna,” he says. “That would be really cool. She would be so much fun! From a writing standpoint, I would choose Lady Gaga because I want to be inside her head for 10 minutes. Some of the material she has put out is so creative, so I want to know where it came from.”
Josey Greenwell Talks Hobbies
“My hobbies include going to the gym. It’s a stress reliever for me, and also, sometimes I can write even in the gym. I like to go to the beach since I live near one. I enjoy spending time with friends and people that I care about. It’s great to have that as an escape,” Greenwell says.
On the importance of staying physically fit, Greenwell states, “it’s hard actually, especially with all of the temptations you can eat these days. You just need to stay strict. The modeling avenue that randomly opened up for me really pushed me to better myself and improve my shape. I really try to eat well and set down a routine. If you can do that, then you will probably go to the gym.”
Josey Greenwell Reveals his Alternate Career Choice
“My family runs a funeral business, so if I wasn’t doing music, I would probably work with my family in Kentucky and take that over,” he remarks.
Josey Greenwell Addresses his Fans
“Wow. It’s almost incredible what the fans have done for me. I am very appreciative, and I couldn’t be in a better spot because of them. I hope to continue to represent them well. I hope to keep on making them proud!” Greenwell exclaims.
