On January 30, 2012, recording artist Cazwell talks to Suite101 about his new video “Unzip Me,” which is a collaboration with Peaches, and gives us insights on his music career and future plans.

Cazwell Talks About “Unzip Me”

“‘Unzip Me’ is my first single from my full-length album which comes out in the spring. I love Peaches, and I have a lot of respect of her. She has definitely influenced the sound of my music and my live performance. She is somebody I really look up to, and we have the same fashion designer. I love the song and Peaches’ voice. It’s a true come true for me,” Cazwell acknowledges.

Cazwell Talks About “Ice Cream Truck”

Cazwell’s hit “Ice Cream Truck” has garnered over 3 million views on his YouTube channel. “I felt really important,” he says with a laugh. “We dropped it on a Wednesday night, and my director [Marco] hoped that it would reach 100,000 views, and then it had a million that week.”

Cazwell Talks About Lady Gaga

In the past, Cazwell was afforded the privilege to open for Lady Gaga. “That was a long time ago, but the first time I met her, I rapped on a remix version of ‘Just Dance,’ and she held herself the same way she does today. She knew what she wanted to do, and I think she is a great artist. I really love her. She is very talented and important!”

Cazwell Discusses “Boombox”

He hosts his own show entitled “Boombox” on HereTV. “I try to bring attention to artists and videos that I really like that may not get attention otherwise, and it has a mix of dance music, rock and rap. I really like to keep it fresh,” he says.

Cazwell has also appeared on such noteworthy media outlets as NBC Nightly News. “It felt good to be on the news, and they played some of my videos,” he adds.

Cazwell Shares his Pre-show Rituals

“I do a group prayer with my dancers before I go on stage, and I do some stretches and push-ups,” he reveals.

Cazwell Talks About his Future Plans

“I am actually shooting a brand new video on Saturday for my next single ‘Rice & Beans,’” he says. “I am extremely proud of the song.”

He notes that his forthcoming album is expected to be fresh, and have various types of music on there, which include dance and hip-hop tracks. “I am really happy with it, and I’m in a good place right now,” he admits.

“Thank you to the fans for supporting me,” Cazwell concludes. “I hope you enjoy the new song. If you like my music, go out and buy it, since it supports your independent artists, and if you want them to continue making music, you have to support them financially, since studio time is not free. Request that I come to your city, and perform at your club, and I would love to come.”
